Description
The building is a single-storey, lofted dower house, also known as Tyddyn-y-Traian (Jointure-House), located to the south of Bryn Mawr. It is currently used for agricultural purposes. Originally, it had a direct entry with a hall to the south and service rooms to the north. The structure is made of coursed rubble masonry with a boulder foundation. It features a steeply pitched quarry slate roof, a simple ovolo eaves cornice, and close verges. A stack has been removed from the right end.
The front facade includes a window to the left and doorways in the centre and to the right, with the rightmost doorway having been a window in the past. The doors are made of planks and have stone lintels above them. There is a blocked loft window to the right on the north gable end, and a window on the rear elevation that is partly blocked, also with a stone lintel.
Adjoining to the south is a late 19th-century, three-bay cowhouse constructed of rubble masonry with a slate roof. It has a central doorway with a doorhead at the eaves and a plank split door. There are vent slits in the end bay and a pitching door at the gable end. The cowhouse features tie beam and collar beam trusses that are bolted.
Inside, there are stop-chamfered transverse ceiling beams and a broad bressumer with broach stops to the chamfer. A rubble cross wall has been inserted to the south of the original entry, and there is a small fireplace in the loft. The structure also retains two through purlin collared trusses and original purlins.
