Description
Tan yr Allt Isaf is a house dating from the 1870s, featuring two storeys and a symmetrical front with two small pane sash windows. The exterior is rendered, topped with a slate roof and end chimneys, and is symmetrical around a central entrance doorway. There is a modern flat-roofed extension at the rear.
To the left of the house is a single-storey farmhouse, likely from the early 19th century, accompanied by a cowhouse. This farmhouse is heavily limewashed with rubble construction, incorporating large glacial boulders in its foundations. It has an undulating roof covered in small slates, partially rendered, and a rubble chimney on the left. The central doorway is flanked by horned small-pane sash windows, with the right window being lower than the left.
Inside, the farmhouse features a pegged A-frame roof truss and to the right, there is a dividing wall with a croglofft and a chamber below that connects to the 19th-century building. To the left, there is a large fireplace with a heavy wooden lintel and an oven in the right jamb. The cowhouse has more recent roof timbers and a corrugated covering, with a brick floor that includes a drainage channel and a single wooden stall partition.
