Description

SX 86 NE KINGSKERSWELL NORTH WILBOROUGH 3/175 Wilborough Farmhouse - GV II House, formerly farmhouse. Circa later C17 with C19 and C20 extensions. Rendered rubble/cob walls. Hipped slate roof. Slightly projecting rendered rubble lateral stack at front with offsets. Rendered brick stack at either gable end. Originally 3-room and through-passage plan with lower room to right heated by gable end stack and hall heated by front lateral stack with newel stairs at rear of hall/inner room. Inner room may originally have been unheated. C19 dairy wing added at rear of lower room with barn extension beyond it now converted. C20 extension behind inner room. 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front of early-mid C19 16-pane sashes on first floor and C20 facsimilies on ground floor. To right of centre is early C19 6-panel door, top 2 glazed, middle 2 are fielded panels. At rear is shallow rectangular stair projection to right of centre with small light and scantle slate roof. Single storey dairy wing to its left and C20 outshut to the right. Interior: plain wooden lintels to fireplaces may be replacements. Treads to newel stairs have been replaced. Roof timbers not inspected but unlikely to be early as the roof has evidently been raised.
