Description

Court Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely underwent remodelling in the 18th century, although it may have originated from an earlier structure. The building features rendered rubble walls topped with an asbestos slate roof, which has a gable on the left side and is hipped on the right. There is a projecting rendered rubble stack at the left gable end with a brick shaft, a brick stack at the right-hand end, and a lateral brick shaft at the rear of the right-hand end.

The original layout of the farmhouse was probably a three-room plan with a through passage, but the interior was remodelled in the 18th century, making the original room arrangement unclear. There is an 18th or 19th-century wing at the rear of the right-hand end. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with four windows, featuring early 19th-century 12-pane sashes. There is a symmetrical three-window section and a central 20th-century blockwood door to the left, along with a 20th-century gabled corrugated asbestos porch. A large buttress is located to the right of the centre, and the wing set back from the right-hand end projects to the rear.

Although the interior was inaccessible at the time of inspection, it was noted to contain two 18th-century fielded-panel doors with H-L hinges on the ground floor. It is also reported to have an open hearth with a bread oven and a small wall cupboard to its right in the left-hand room.
