Description

Yeate Farmhouse is a farmhouse, probably built in the early 18th century, with some remodeling done in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with quoins and has an asbestos slate roof featuring hipped ends. The building includes a rear projecting wing with a slightly lower gable end and a dairy located in the angle beneath an outshut. There is a rendered brick stack on the left-hand hipped end and a large rendered stone chimney with a brick stack on the right-hand hipped end.

The farmhouse has an L-shaped plan, originally consisting of two rooms with a cross passage and a dairy at the rear. It is two storeys high and has an almost symmetrical front. On the ground floor, there are two sash windows, each with two panes, flanking a central gabled rubble stone porch that has a round arched opening and a panelled door. Above, there are three 4-pane sashes. A lean-to is present on the left-hand gable end, and a mounting block is located on the right-hand gable end.

The rear wing features a 20th-century partly glazed porch under a sloping roof. The entrance has a chamfered timber lintel with plain stops above it, and the interior includes roughly cut chamfered timber ceiling beams. There are two cloam ovens in the fireplace on the right-hand gable end, and a timber screen is present on the first floor. The roof timbers have not been inspected.
