Description
Hunnacott Farmhouse is a farmhouse that possibly dates back to the late 16th century, with additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of roughcast rendered rubble and features asbestos slate roofs, with some scantle slate at each end and a hipped roof at the right end. The building has an axial stack with a drip and weatherings that backs onto a through-passage in its original three-cell plan. There is a right-angled 18th-century projection at the rear, creating an overall T-shaped plan, which includes a gable end stack with slated offsets and a brick shaft. The lower end may have been extended in the 19th century to create a first-floor granary. The farmhouse has two storeys and a five-window range, although the windows have been replaced with 20th-century fenestration.
A gabled porch with a slate roof leads to a six-panelled inner door, with the upper two panels being glazed. There is a stable door towards the lower end and a buttress at the upper end. External stone steps lead to a first-floor plank door at the right end. The interior has been altered, including the removal of a fine panelled dais and a bench back with a crested top rail. Although there is no access to the roof space, one raised cruck truss with a cranked collar remains over the hall.
