Description
Brinscombe Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of rendered stone rubble and features bitumenized slate roofs with gable ends, which are hipped at the angles. It has a large stone rubble chimney stack with a tapered cap at the left gable end, as well as a front lateral brick stack and an axial brick stack serving the rear service range.
The farmhouse is L-shaped in plan, with a principal room on each side of a wide entrance hall that contains a staircase, and a service wing located at the rear of the right-hand room. It stands two storeys tall. The main range includes a 2-light casement window with six panes per light above a 3-light and a 2-light casement window to the left of a sash window, which is situated above a lean-to slate canopy over the doorway. To the right on the ground floor, there is a 3-light casement window with six panes per light. The service range features four 2-light casement windows above two 3-light casement windows to the left of a plank door, which also has a slate lean-to canopy above it. The interior has been significantly altered in the 20th century.
