Description

Church House is a 17th-century building that was later converted into four almshouses and is now a single dwelling. A plaque on the stack indicates that it was restored in 1895, with further alterations made around 1980. The structure features random rubble stone with a whitewashed rendered upper storey and a slate roof. It has a tall rubble lateral stack at the center of the front, a stack at the right gable end with a drip, and truncated stacks at the rear left end and the left gable end.

Originally, it likely had a three-cell cross-passage plan built into the bank of the churchyard. It was later divided into four dwellings, with two on each storey. The first-floor entry, located at the right gable end, has been converted into a bathroom, and a stone flight of steps that led to the left of the front lateral stack has been removed. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range of two-light casements. There are similar casements below a 20th-century door to the cross-passage and a four-pane casement above. The rear has scattered fenestration, with a blocked opening on the ground floor to the right side.

Inside, there are three trusses with straight principals and two tiers of trenched purlins. Internal partitions have been altered, but there are chamfered beams and a fireplace lintel in the principal bedroom, along with a bread oven in the fireplace on the first floor.
