Description
Hillview is a house that likely dates from the late 16th century or 17th century, with some remodeling done in the 20th century. It is constructed of whitewashed rendered rubble and cob, topped with a corrugated asbestos roof featuring gable ends. The house has a lateral rear hall stack with offsets and a three-cell plan. Stairs have been inserted into a cross-passage where a doorway has been infilled, and the entrance has been moved to the rear at the lower end. The building has one and a half storeys and a four-window range on the ground floor, with 20th-century windows throughout. There is a dormer with a raking roof and a lean-to at the left end, also with a corrugated asbestos roof. Inside, there is a chamfered beam and fireplace lintel in the hall. Part of the original roof structure remains over the upper end, featuring one truss with straight purlins, two tiers of trenched purlins, and original rafters with thatch still in place.
