Description

Hammonds Farmhouse is likely of 17th-century origin, with later additions and alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of colourwashed rendered rubble stone, with slate roofs featuring lionshead ornamented guttering. A stack is located at the right gable end, and a slated roof extends to the rear, forming an outshut that incorporates two rear stacks with tall rendered shafts. The farmhouse originally had a 3-cell through-passage plan, and the upper floor on the left-hand side was formerly used as a granary. The front elevation has two storeys and a five-window range of 19th-century two-light casement windows with 8 panes per light; the window at the left end retains L-hinges. A similar casement window is on the right-hand side, and a three-light hall casement with a 1/2 glazed panelled door is flanked by a large, added glass porch. A four-paned casement window with L-hinges is located at the left end, and the roof has 19th-century trusses. The interior has been much altered.
