Description
Ye Old Thatched Cottage is a cottage that may have originally been a barn, likely dating from the 18th century, but has been significantly altered in the 20th century. It features rendered rubble and cob walls, with a gable-ended thatched roof. There are two gable end stacks; the left one is made of late 20th century rubble, while the right one is rendered brick. The absence of early stacks and interior features suggests that it may have originally served a non-domestic purpose. The interior has been extensively remodeled in the 20th century and currently consists of two main rooms. The cottage is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with four windows, which are late 20th century two-light casements with glazing bars. There are two 20th century lean-to porches on either side of the center; the left porch has a 20th century plank and part-glazed door, while the right porch is open-fronted with a 20th century glazed door behind it. The interior was inaccessible during the survey but appears to be completely modernized with no early features visible. The roof structure may hold some interest.
