Description
The Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and was modernized in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with the rear exposed. The cottage features a cob or stone rubble stack topped with 20th-century brick and has a thatched roof. It has a two-room plan and faces south, with a stack at the right (east) end. The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front, with three-light casements on either side and a two-light casement on the first floor, all of which are now 20th-century casements without glazing bars. There is a central 20th-century door with a contemporary gabled porch that has a slate roof. The roof is gable-ended. The rear wall is mostly blind, except for a small larder window at the left end and a central 20th-century buttress. The interior has plain carpentry details where exposed, though the roof has not been inspected.
