Description
Nos. 7 and 8 are two cottages located in Wembworthy, likely built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed from plastered cob on rubble footings, with cob or rubble stacks that are topped with 19th and 20th century brick, one of which is plastered. The cottages have a thatched roof and are arranged in a two-room plan, facing north. No. 7, on the left (east) end, features a large projecting end stack, while No. 8, on the right (west) end, has an axial stack in the party wall with the adjoining No. 9. The buildings are two storeys high and have an overall four-window front, with late 19th and 20th century replacement casements that include glazing bars. Both cottages have roughly central doors; No. 7 has a 19th century plank door, while No. 8 has a 20th century replacement. At the extreme left end of No. 7, there is a Victorian post box set into the wall. The roof is gable-ended. The interior does not have any exposed carpentry details, and the fireplaces are blocked. The roofs have not been inspected.
