Description
Ty Newydd is a single-storey house with a two-room plan, oriented roughly north-south. It has a lower cowhouse attached to the left (north) gable end, which is extended by a lean-to at the front. There is also a later lean-to attached to the right gable end of the cottage. The building is constructed of roughly coursed rubblestone, with some traces of render on the front wall of the cottage. The left gable end of the cowhouse and the front wall of the lean-to extension were rebuilt in brick during the 1950s. The roofs are covered with graded slate.
The cottage features a slightly off-set boarded door, flanked by mid-20th century six-paned metal windows set in original 19th-century openings. There is a small skylight to the left and integral end stacks, with the right stack being much more substantial, both having slate drips. The back wall has no openings. The cowhouse has a boarded door located to the right at the junction with the cowhouse. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey.
