Description
Hafod Caeronwy is a single-storey cottage built with a two-room layout, featuring an attached cowhouse under the same roofline on the left gable end. At the front, there is a lean-to dairy located at the junction between the cottage and the cowhouse. A short range at right angles to the rear of the cottage creates a basic T-plan. The exterior is made of limewashed, roughly coursed rubblestone with a grouted graded slate roof.
The house section has windows, with the left window being a 20th-century addition and the right a four-pane sash window, both flanking a slightly offset boarded door. There are integral end stacks for the house part, with the left stack being more substantial where it connects to the cowhouse, both featuring slate drips. A small four-pane window is present on the back wall, while the rear range includes a 20th-century window with a slate cill and a significant integral end stack with slate drips and a chimneypot.
Inside, the left room of the original house has a large stone lintel over the fireplace, a slate floor, and a boarded ceiling. The right room features a reconstructed croglofft and remnants of tongue and groove boarding on the front wall. The former cowhouse has a bolted A-frame truss in the center and a slate floor in the former dairy.
