Description
The War Memorial is an ashlar obelisk that stands on a square stone plinth, accessed by a flight of seven steps at the front. The entire structure is set on a paved base, which features a low wall along with iron gates and railings at the front. The obelisk has a rectangular section, with a moulded plinth and a shallow pyramidal top that is topped by a cross and flanked by mortar shells. Just below the cross, there is a metal poppy wreath accompanied by two demi-figures of servicemen. Below this, the inscription reads "EV/ HABERTH/ UCHAF/ YN Y/ RHYFEL/ MAWR/ MCMXIV". The names of the fallen are commemorated on a rectangular brass plate set within a pedimented panel on the plinth of the obelisk, with a smaller plate below it dedicated to those who died in the Second World War.
