Description

The Telford Milestone located on Mona Road is made from dressed Anglesey limestone and features a shallow triangular head with raking chamfered sides. It has a cast iron inset plate with white lettering on a black background that reads: HOLY- / HEAD / 22 / MONA / 9 / BANGOR / 3. This milestone is set in front of a rubble arch that is part of a boundary wall. The arch, which is now overgrown, is an example of a “Telford Arch” and is believed to have been designed to enhance the visibility of the milestone.
