Description

The Telford Milestone is a boundary marker made of dressed Anglesey limestone, featuring a shallow triangular head and raking chamfered sides. It includes a cast iron inset plate with white lettering on a black background that reads: HOLY- / HEAD / 14 / MONA / 1 / BANGOR / 11. The milestone is positioned in front of a rubble arch that is part of a boundary wall. This arch, now overgrown, is an example of a "Telford Arch," which is believed to have been designed to enhance the visibility of the milestone.
