Description

The Telford Milestone (7) is made of dressed Anglesey limestone and features a shallow triangular head with raking chamfered sides. It has a cast iron inset plate with white lettering on a black background that reads: HOLY- / HEAD / 7 / MONA / 6 / BANGOR / 18. The milestone is set in front of a rubble arch, which is now much overgrown. This arch is an example of a "Telford Arch," believed to have been designed to enhance and draw attention to the milestone.
