Description
The Telford Milestone is made from dressed Anglesey limestone and features a shallow triangular head with raking chamfered sides. It has a cast iron inset plate that is painted black, displaying the lettering: HOLY- / HEAD / 8 / MONA / 5 / BANGOR / 17. The milestone is set in front of a rubble arch, which is an example of a "Telford Arch," believed to have been designed to enhance and draw attention to the milestone.
