Description

The Telford Milestone is made of dressed Anglesey limestone and features a shallow triangular head with raking chamfered sides. It has a cast iron inset plate with white lettering on a black background that reads: HOLY- / HEAD / 11 / MONA / 2 / BANGOR / 14. The milestone is set in front of a rubble arch that is part of a boundary wall, representing a very well preserved example of a “Telford Arch,” which is believed to have been designed to enhance and draw attention to the milestone.
