Description
Gwalchmai Tollhouse is an octagonal, two-storey toll house that features a symmetrical design with single-storey wings on the northeast and southeast sides. The building is constructed of coursed masonry, with the first floor rendered. It has a slate roof with projecting eaves, while the wings are topped with roofs made of old small slates that are heavily grouted. The central stack of the octagon is complemented by gable end stacks on each wing, each topped with rendered caps. The windows are slightly recessed and fitted with modern casements. The upper storey of the octagon has blind recesses on all sides except for the face directly above the doorway, which faces west.
