Description
1-9 New Street form a row of three groups of terraced houses, built of rubble with brick dressings and slate roofs. The terrace is stepped to follow the rising ground. Each house is essentially single-fronted, though the arrangement of the dwellings varies. Nos 1-2 and 3-4 are mirrored pairs with doorways positioned alongside each other. Nos 5 and 6 also form a pair, each with a doorway to the left; number 5 has replacement windows in the original openings, while number 6 retains original four-pane sash windows. Nos 7-9 constitute a further group, again with doorways to the left. Number 7 features a full-height shallow canted bay with sash windows, while the other windows throughout this group are four-pane sashes. A small canopy porch is present at number 8. Number 2 has a large canted bay window with a slate roof at ground floor level. Large ridge stacks are situated between each dwelling.
