Description
The Cambria is a 2-storey building with an attic and cellar, designed in a T-plan. It features whitewashed mortared rubble masonry walls and a slate roof, with rubble and brick stacks indicating the original gable ends and the gable ends of a later 18th-century L-plan addition. The original section appears to have a 3-unit layout, with the entrance located on the southeast and three 16-pane sash windows on the first floor. The east wing has a three-window range facing north, with 12-pane sashes. Above the door on the east elevation, there is a rectangular fan light with glazing bars, and an inn-sign bracket is located on the east gable of the projecting wing.
According to the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, the building contains plain stop-chamfered beams and original roof trusses of a simple braced collar-beam type, featuring curved collars and delicate chamfers. A room in the east wing is said to have raised, fielded, bolection-moulded panelling, and there is a staircase with slender turned balusters, which has undergone significant repairs. Previous listings also mention window seats within the property.
