Description
Craig yr Halen is a distinctive two-storey building with attics and cellars, designed in a Swiss Cottage style. It is constructed of rubble and is now rendered under a slate roof with broadly projecting verges. The front elevation features a wide three-window gable, with the roof extending over a two-tier verandah that adds character to the facade through its grid of chamfered supports. The first floor and attic have tripartite small-pane sash windows, and there is a similar window on the left side of the gable front. The verandah extends to the right over a squared porch, which has small-paned glazing and a door on the right return. On either side of the main gable, the roof slopes down over two-storey outer bays, each with verandahs and tripartite small-paned sash windows. The rear elevation is unrendered and features a mix of 9, 12, and 20-pane sash windows. The building underwent significant alterations in the 1920s, resulting in changes to the interior layout, with most fittings dating from that period or later.
