Description
The Harbour Office is a Georgian building, similar in design to the Customs House, and dates from the 18th century. It is two storeys high and constructed from local Mona marble stone, topped with a hipped slate roof. The front features a broad three-bay layout framed by prominent pilasters, a sill band, a plinth, and a shaped cornice with a blocking course above. A large square clock tower dominates the design, which includes a substantial octagonal belfry adorned with pilasters and a swept cap topped with a ball finial. The clock face is located on the front, with roundels on the other sides; the left roundel has small-pane glazing and all have moulded surrounds, except for the rear. The building has horned small-pane sash windows and a central entrance. To the left, there is a pebbledash fronted lean-to. The rear is blank and has undergone alterations, with a hipped roof cross range.
