Description
The Lower Churchyard Walls and Gateway are constructed of dark grey rubble and stand approximately 2 meters high. The central gateway, designed in the style of architect Clough Williams Ellis, is made of paler stone and features a shaped gable and a round-headed archway, which is adorned with elaborate wrought iron gates.
Above the gateway, there are inscriptions on slate. One inscription facing Victoria Road reads ‘Sancte Kybi Ora Per Nobis’, while the inscription towards the church states ‘Cared Coeth Yr Encilion’, along with the date ‘1926’. Additionally, there is a monogram consisting of the letters ‘AJH’, possibly following the monogram of the Renaissance artist Albrecht Durer.
The wall connects back to the upper walls with rubble walls at each end.
