Description
Admiralty Pier, built between 1810 and 1821 by engineer John Rennie Senior, is a stone pier approximately 500 meters long, extending from Salt Island Bridge and including facing and consolidating walls on Salt Island. The pier features large squared masonry blocks and has a square projection on the southeast side. It broadens at the eastern end where the lighthouse is located. On the south side, there are stone stairs leading down to the water level, while the northern side has a sloping revetted wall above which stands a wall approximately 2 meters high with a walkway that includes a metal handrail.
