Description
The former smithy at Inverey, located on the Mar Estate, dates from the early to mid 19th century and is a single-storey structure. It is built of rubble, with some harl remaining on the south (front) elevation. The south elevation features a small, deeply set window on the far left and a single low door near the center. There is also a single low door on the north (rear) elevation. The end gables are finished with vertical timber boarding and plain bargeboards. A low rubble lean-to is attached to the west gable. Additionally, there is a single metal flue on the west gable, and the roof is covered with corrugated iron over thatch, which may be made of heather or bracken.
