Description
The Game Larder and Keeper's Cottage at Corriemulzie is a late 19th-century polygonal dairy accompanied by a cottage.
The dairy is a single-storey, polygonal estate building with a harled timber lath exterior. It features a square-plan ancillary building connected to the east by an open timber corridor. The west elevation has pointed arch openings with a timber panelled door. The dairy has timber 4-pane sash and case windows and a bell-cast slate roof topped with a weather vane. The roof overhangs to create a rustic verandah supported by timber columns, while the square building has a slate roof with a central masonry stack.
The cottage is a single-storey, three-bay structure that is weatherboarded, with a painted timber diamond lattice screen on the north and east elevations. It has a projecting timber porch with a semi-hexagonal arched door opening, and a lean-to extension that obscures the south (rear) elevation. The cottage features 4-pane timber vertically sliding sash and case windows, larch shingles, and corrugated iron on the porch and lean-to, along with a central masonry stack.
Inside, the dairy retains a stone flag floor and slate work benches, with two rooms in the ancillary building that still have shelving for storage and a flue for a boiler. The cottage is a simple two-roomed building, preserving its original timber panelling.
