Description

The former smithy, now disused, dates from the late 18th century and has undergone later additions and alterations. It is constructed of red brick and features a machine tile roof with a dentilled eaves cornice. The building has an L-plan layout, with an early 19th-century single-storey gritstone addition at the rear on the left side. On the left, there is a wide segmental arch with a brick keystone and 20th-century double doors, while there is a hatched opening to the right. The structure includes an integral end stack on the right and another stack located behind the ridge at the center. Inside, the smithy retains two brick furnaces, a set of bellows, and a loft.
