Description
Tigh-Na-Garaidh, also known as Gardener's Cottage, is a single-storey, six-bay cottage built in 1875, located on sloping ground at Balmoral Castle. The exterior features squared and coursed granite, with block and sneck detailing on the gables and a base course.
On the southeast elevation, there is a door in the bay to the left of the center, which is topped with a bracketed, gabled canopy. The door is boarded and accompanied by a three-pane fanlight, with windows closely flanking it on the left. There are three additional windows in the bays to the right.
The northwest elevation is set against a bank and includes a small gabled addition from around 1900 that projects at the center. This addition features a timber-mullioned bipartite window on the left and is blank on the right.
The gable ends are blank, and the cottage is fitted with 12-pane sash and case windows. It has gablehead stacks and is covered with grey slates, with ashlar coped skews.
