Description

The Ice House at Balmoral Castle was built by J & W Smith in 1849. It is located on a bank near the back drive to the castle. The entrance elevation above ground is made of coursed, squared granite and features a waved wallhead with an ashlar coping. The entrance has a simple boarded door, and the bank rises behind and to the sides of the structure.
