Offices, Inverernan House

Inverernan House is a fine two-storey stable block built around 1830 and renovated in the 1980s. It features an H-plan layout and is located to the north of Inverernan House. The building has an iron-columned verandah that connects the advanced gabled wings and a low-pitched broad eaved roof. The exterior is harled over snecked rubble with ashlar margins, a granite base course, and quoin strips. It includes segmental cart arches and round-headed windows, along with boarded timber doors and two-part fanlights.

The principal elevation faces west and has advanced outer wings. The left wing features a cart arch at ground level, with both wings showcasing decoratively-astragalled round-headed windows on the first floor and a blind tablet in the gablehead. The building has recessed bays with a full-width verandah.

Most windows are timber sash and case with a largely 12-pane glazing pattern, although some first-floor windows have out-of-character plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the eaves are deeply overhanging with plain bargeboarding.

Inside, some original details have been retained, including loose boxes with boarded timber walls, finialled posts, and ironwork hay baskets.
