Description

The lodges and gates at Edinglassie House date from the late 18th or early 19th century. They consist of a pair of single-storey, single-bay lodges with piend roofs, positioned on either side of fine gatepiers and gates at the southeast entrance of Edinglassie House. The lodges are constructed from granite ashlar and harl, featuring ashlar margins. They have base and eaves courses, with the eaves being stepped and incorporating segmental-arched hoodmoulds that rise into the roofs at the south-facing windows. The outer angles of the lodges are pilastered, mirroring the gatepiers.

The west lodge (east elevation) has a two-leaf boarded timber door with a decorative astragal fanlight to the left, a small bipartite window to the right, and another door beyond. The east lodge (west elevation) features only a central door.

The windows include 4-, 12-, and 15-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case, as well as pivot windows. The roofs are covered with small grey slates, and there are coped ashlar ridge stacks with cans.

The gatepiers and gates consist of stepped, flat-coped, square-section granite ashlar piers with a fielded panel on the south side. The gates feature decorative ironwork, with pedestrian outer gates adjoining the lodges and two-leaf vehicular main gates.
