Description
Keeper's Cottage, located within the Edinglassie House Policies, is likely from the late 18th to early 19th century, with the northern wing probably dating to the mid-19th century. This fine single-storey and attic house has a rectangular plan and features three bays. A tall single-storey gabled wing forms an L-shape and overlooks the offices to the east of Edinglassie House. The building is constructed of snecked rubble with ashlar margins and has tall stone pedimented dormer windows that break the eaves.
The symmetrical entrance elevation faces west, featuring a central door flanked by windows in the adjacent bays, with dormer windows above. There is a gabled projection on the left side that includes a door and a window on the right return. The windows have a 4-pane glazing pattern and are timber top-opening pivot windows. The roof is covered with grey slates and has a stone ridge, although there is a modern rooflight that is out of character. The chimney stacks are made of ashlar and have cans, with the stacks on the original house showing evidence of thackstanes. The deep ashlar-coped skews are complemented by moulded skewputts.
