Description
The lodge and gate piers at Westerton House in Bridge of Allan were built in 1859. This single-storey building features three bays, with the central bay projecting forward. It has a two-leaf door with cavetto moulded reveals, set beneath a pediment that displays a coat of arms and initials. The structure is made of ashlar stone, with broad channelled ashlar angle piers, a plinth, a cill band, a cornice, and a blocking course. There is one window on each side wall of the projecting entrance bay, which is flanked by two additional windows. The roof is piended and covered with slate, and there are two axial corniced stacks. A two-storey flat-roofed projection has long and short quoins and modern glazing on the north side. One gate pier with a corniced cap remains, along with some cast-iron spear-head railings.
