Description
The gate piers and gates, along with the lodge at Stroquhan, date from around 1840 to 1850. This symmetrical, single-storey lodge features three bays and is constructed of painted rubble with chamfered margins and hood-moulds. The north elevation has a central panelled door and 12-pane sash windows in the outer bays, with a single window on either side; the window to the west does not have a hood-mould. There is a central apex stack and a piended roof covered with graded slates. A modern addition has been made to the south.
The gate piers are chamfered and square, made of painted ashlar with cornices and Gothic acanthus leaf finials on raised bases. The main gateway is flanked by similar piers leading to pedestrian paths, featuring fine Gothic traceried cast-iron gates adorned with foiled, cusped, and crocketed decoration.
