Description

50 Henderson Street is a building dating from 1880, showcasing a high Victorian style. It is a two-storey structure with an attic, built from ashlar stone on a corner site. The façade facing Henderson Street features eight windows, five of which are bipartite and topped with a cornice. This elevation is framed by Corinthianesque pilasters and has chamfered openings. The ground floor has been modernized for shops, with three keyblocked segment-headed doorways supported by consoled pieces and framed in pilasters.

The stepped frontage on Union Street includes two canted bays and a single pedimented dormer on the left side, while the right side has two canted bays that frame a triplet of stilted segment-headed doorways and a single first-floor window. Above these, there are pedimented dormers, with the outer dormers being bipartite. The centre bay is recessed, featuring a segment-headed doorpiece and an arched first-floor niche with a segmental pediment that masks a change in level. All windows and mullions are pilastered, with sculptured capitals at the ground and first floors. The roofs are slated.
