Beaconhurst Grange School, Kenilworth Road, Bridge Of Allan

Beaconhurst Grange School is a large neo-Jacobean mansion built in 1868. It is a detached structure with two storeys, an attic, and a basement, constructed from ashlar stone. The northeast frontage features three windows between slightly advanced tripartite end bays, topped with crow-stepped dormer heads. An off-centre rope-moulded doorpiece is approached by steps. The southwest front has two bipartite windows between five-light canted bays, with similar three-light dormers above. The building has broad two-window gables and elaborate detailing, including raised quoins, hood moulds, label-stops, corbelled and crenellated corner turrets, and a band of crenellation at the attic floor level. Additional features include a rope-moulded eaves course, crow-stepped gables, thistle and rose finials, and chimneys with triple diagonal shafts flanked by gabled skylights at the centre of both main fronts. The roof is slated and features a platform between the broad gable chimneys.
