West Coats Primary School, Brownside Road, Cambuslang, Glasgow

West Coats Primary School, located on Brownside Road in Cambuslang, Glasgow, is a school designed in the style of A Lindsay Miller, likely built shortly after the Education Act of 1882. The building features a long, single-storey front that is nearly symmetrical, with outer gables that each have a distinctive framed roundel at the gable-head. To the left, there is a square tower that appears either incomplete or reduced in height. The windows are mullioned and/or transomed, and the ornamented dormer heads cut through the eaves. The construction includes squared rubble with ashlar dressings, sash windows that have decorative square lights above the transoms, and slate roofs with red ridging tiles. Each side of the building has a doorway with a dormer head and flanking windows arranged symmetrically. There is a well-preserved run of decorative cast-iron railings, complete with gates and masonry gatepiers. An additional range, which appears to be from the early 20th century, is stone-built, mostly three storeys tall, and features a twin-gabled front with a tower.
