Cambuslang Baptist Church, Cadzow Drive, Cambuslang, Glasgow

Cambuslang Baptist Church is a Classical church built in 1895, designed by William Ferguson, with halls added to the rear by Miller and Black in 1930. The church features an unusual use of masonry, with contrasting wall areas of red and grey stonework, all detailed in red ashlar, and has slate roofs. It occupies a sloping corner site, with a long flank wall facing Cadzow Drive that includes a basement storey. The end bays are shallow-advanced and parapetted. The range of halls to the right has a three-bay front that reproduces features of the original design and continues the parapet. The main front facing Greenlees Road presents a simplified version of the "temple-front" style favored in the west, with flat-parapetted ends and a central section that is advanced, raised, and pedimented. It has three gallery-level windows divided by pilasters, with the main entrance door located at ground level beneath. The property is enclosed by a boundary wall featuring wrought-iron gates and railings.
