Description
This is a composite sundial located at Doonholm Estate in Ayr, dating from the later 18th century and the mid 19th century. It features four sandstone lions that support a circular stone base, which has a carved outer edge. Rising from this base is a mid 19th century column topped with an Egyptian-style capital. Above the column is a four-sided square-plan sundial, which has gnomons in place, and it is surmounted by four Atlas statues that are carrying a globe.
