Dutch Mill House, Alloway, Ayr

Dutch Mill House is an early 19th century, two-storey, four-bay former mill house with later additions, designed in an L-plan layout. The building is constructed of rubble with painted margins around the window openings.

On the west elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a grouped arrangement of windows. To the left, a two-leaf glazed timber entrance leads into the three-bay section from the early 19th century, with a single window directly above it on the first floor. The remaining bays to the right feature regular fenestration. To the left, there is a mid-19th century single bay that has a bipartite window on the ground floor and a single window on the first floor.

The south elevation includes a central single window at the ground floor. The north and east elevations were not visible in 1999.

The windows are fitted with plate glass and four-pane timber sash and case designs. The roof is covered with slate and features stone skews, gablehead and ridge stacks, and circular cans. The building also has cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 1999.
