Description
Doonside Dovecot is a later 19th-century square-plan, three-stage lectern dovecot located on the Doonside Estate in Alloway, Ayr. It is constructed from cement harled brick, featuring red sandstone strip quoins, window dressings, and elements of the first stage, along with concrete slab rat courses, coping, and cills. The first stage has a round-arched arcade with impost detail, and there is a rat course above it. The second stage includes window openings on the north and east sides, with three flight holes at the base of the eastern side and a rat course above. The walls rise to all sides except the south elevation of the third stage, which is topped with a crenellated parapet.
