Description

J MacVicar Anderson (London), executed Allan Stevenson (Ayr), circa 1890. Single storey, 3-bay Jacobean-detailed estate lodge. Coursed sandstone; ashlar dressings. Bracketed eaves.

NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: square-headed entrance to right; timber door; single window to return to right; single window to recessed bay to outer right; cavetto-corbelled, kneelered-gabled canted bay to left; square-panel to gable; finial at apex; transomed and mullioned window.

NW ELEVATION: asymmetrical; 2-bay; cavetto-corbelled, kneelered-gabled 5-light canted bay to left, square-panel to gable; recessed bay with bipartite window to flanking bay to right.

SW ELEVATION: asymmetrical; 3-bay; bipartite window to bay to right; 2 recessed bays to left, window to each.

Timber windows. Slate roof; 4 octagonal-stacked corniced shaft to centre; circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen 1999.

GATEPIERS, GATES, RAILINGS AND BOUNDARY WALL: paired octagonal-plan gatepiers with ball finials; single pedestrian and 2-leaf vehicular gates; railings atop coped boundary wall (fleur-de-lis finials).
