Description
Doonholm Farm is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay L-plan farmhouse, featuring lower single and single-storey attic wings. The building is constructed from sandstone rubble and brick, with margins around the square-headed window openings.
On the east (entrance) elevation, there is a later glazed gabled entrance porch on the outer right, with two single windows at ground level on the main house and three single windows on the first floor.
The west (rear) elevation has seven bays arranged in a 3-2-2 grouping. It includes a single window to a cat-slide porch leading to a recessed two-bay section, a glazed timber door at the re-entrant angle to the left, and single windows at both ground and first floors to the left. There are three single windows in the single-storey and attic section to the left, along with two single windows at ground level in the advanced gabled section to the right, and a single window on the first floor to the right.
The south (side) elevation features single windows at both ground and first floors in the gabled section to the right, a single window to the left, and a single window in the gabled brick extension on the outer left.
The north (side) elevation has two timber entrance doors leading to a four-bay single-storey section, with narrow letterbox fanlights and sidelights to the left, along with single windows to the left of the entrances. There are also two timber entrance doors to a four-bay gabled section on the right, with a letterbox fanlight above the left entrance and flanking single windows. Two single windows break the eaves to form attic gables, while the gable elevation is blank.
The farmhouse features timber lying-pane sash and case windows, a slate roof, stone skews with coped gablehead stacks, and polygonal cans. It also has cast-iron rainwater goods. The interior was not seen in 1999.
