North Lodge, Doonholm Estate, Doonholm Road, Ayr

North Lodge is a gate lodge from the earlier 19th century, located at the northern entrance to the Doonholm Estate on Doonholm Road in Ayr. It is a single-storey structure with an asymmetrical plan, featuring coursed, squared sandstone and render. The lodge has a base course, deep eaves, and splayed corner angles.

The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, has an advanced pedimented entrance to the left with a timber door. There is a narrow window to the left of the entrance and a three-light window with a deep window hood to the right.

The north elevation facing Doonholm Road is also two bays, with window openings in the advanced bay to the left and the recessed bay to the right, both topped with deep window hoods.

The east and south elevations were not visible during the 1999 inspection. The lodge predominantly features small-paned timber windows and has a slate piend roof with coped pitch stacks and circular cans.

The interior was not seen during the 1999 inspection. The gatepiers, railings, and boundary wall include square-plan gatepiers with chamfered angles and spear-headed railings atop a low coped boundary wall.
