Description
Later 20th century with later alterations. Single storey, 3-bay classically-detailed gate lodge with attic addition at rear. Harled; sandstone ashlar dressings. Sandstone mutuled and corniced eaves; narrow quoin strips; sandstone margins; flush cills.
NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: deep-set timber panelled door centred at ground; plate glass fanlight; architraved surround. Venetian windows in flanking bays with raised keystones surmounting central openings.
SE (SIDE) ELEVATION: bipartite window centred at ground; single window to left.
SW (REAR) ELEVATION: timber door off-set to right of centre; plate glass fanlight. Single windows at ground in flanking bays; narrow window to outer right; bipartite window in bay to outer left. 2 tripartite windows centred in large pitch and platform dormer.
NW (SIDE) ELEVATION: single window centred at ground.
3-, 8- and 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows (radial uppers to Venetian openings); small-pane timber casements to attic. Grey slate piended roof. Corniced 4-flue central ridge stack; circular cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
ENTRANCE WALLS, PIERS AND GATEPIERS: low coped, coursed and stugged sandstone walls flanking entrance. Squat, square-plan piers to outer left and right; pyramidal caps. Corniced square-plan gatepiers flanking entrance with panelled facets, carved consoles, ball-finialled caps; modern gates.
