Braehead Cottage, Main Street, Leitholm

Braehead Cottage, located on Main Street in Leitholm, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It was raised to two storeys and converted into a single property with later alterations. The cottage is a two-storey, four-bay structure, originally consisting of two two-bay cottages, and features a single-storey garage block attached to the right.

The building is constructed with whinstone and sandstone rubble at the ground level, while the first floor is predominantly sandstone rubble, accented with tooled rubble sandstone dressings. It has rubble quoins and predominantly droved long and short surrounds to the openings, along with projecting cills.

On the southeast (entrance) elevation, there is a modern timber panelled door offset to the right of centre, with a single window aligned above it on the first floor. There are single windows on both floors in the remaining bays to the left and right. The garage block to the right has a two-leaf boarded timber garage door, also offset to the right.

The northwest (rear) elevation was not seen in 1998. The property features uPVC glazing throughout, a grey slate roof with stone coped skews, and brick apex stacks. The garage has a corrugated-iron roof.

The site is enclosed by a low coped rubble boundary wall at the front.
